Wrong nutrition during pregnancy can be detrimental to a pregnant mother’s health. It can even put the baby’s development into risk. The intake of foods and drinks which commonly contain toxins should be avoided.



Refuse the temptation of alcohol. Oftentimes, it can’t be helped by some pregnant woman to still indulge into socializations and parties where bottles after bottles of alcoholic beverages are served. Drinking alcohol during pregnancy has been proven to result in birth defects, mental retardation, premature delivery, learning deficiencies and emotional problems.



Strictly adhering to the recommended 300 mg limit of caffeine intake is also another step towards avoiding incorrect pregnancy nutrition. Read labels of coffee brands, sodas and chocolates to know how much caffeine is included per serving.

While liver from chicken meat is a good source of iron, refrain from eating canned versions like liver spread. High level of retinol, a form of vitamin A, is contained in canned liver products which can also be possibly bad for the development of the baby.



Food craving is regarded as a normal effect of pregnancy, however, it is generally recommended to indulge into food cravings if and only if it can give a pregnant woman her needed essential nutrients. Food cravings can also be harmful. Some pregnant women crave for junk foods and excessive sweets. Still others crave for pica or nonfood items such as ashes and clay.
