Weight Loss : Are you Determined Enough to Succeed?

Determination separates the winners from the also-rans in almost every field. Without the strength of will to succeed, it's difficult to make the effort when you just don't feel like it.

And with the pace of modern life there are generally a lot of times when our energy is flagging and it's easier just to sit on the sofa in front of the TV and order take-away than do anything like cooking a delicious healthy meal or going out for a walk after dinner.

If you think back, you'll probably see that whenever you succeeded at anything, you were determined to achieve whatever it was you set out to do. You decided to do whatever it took and you did it.

This may even have applied to times when you lost weight in the past. You lost weight by being determined to do so, but the problem is you just put it all straight back on again unless you were equally as determined not to gain weight.

So how do you increase your determination? Or is it just something you are born with and can't change?

Your level of determination is not fixed at birth, but it does have to come from you. No one else can be determined to lose weight and keep it off on your behalf. But there ARE ways in which you can increase it.

1. Be absolutely crystal clear about what you will gain from losing weight and staying slim. Why do you want this? Think about all the reasons you want it for you and not just for others. Write down your list of reasons and review it morning, noon and night.

2. Whenever you have a spare moment visualise how you will look when you lose weight and imagine how you will move, what you will wear and, above all, how good you will feel.

3. Strengthen your belief in your ability to succeed by telling yourself often that you CAN do this. Success is up to you and you can do it. It doesn't matter what has happened in the past - you can succeed this time.

Reinforce your determination in these three ways several times a day. It takes very little time and effort for something that makes so much difference.

But the real trick comes with what you do next and this is a missing step in many self-help/success type processes.

Straight after you run through these little exercises to strengthen your determination, take some kind of action towards your goal. It needn't be a huge step or take much time at all.

You can look for and plan healthy meals, go shopping for healthy food, get your gym kit ready, get changed into your running gear, do a few tummy squeezes, climb a flight of stairs or whatever. Just seize the moment.

This then generates momentum all of it's own. Reinforcing your determination and belief leads to successful action which leads to being more motivated and having even more belief in your success. A happy "unvicious" circle!

Try it and you'll see your determination (and with it your chances of success) soar.

Nutrition Is Not Common Sense

I'd like to explain an important concept that most online trainers (even the "gurus") don't "get"...

Have you ever heard that 'nutrition is common sense?'

Have you ever thought about why the United States has an epidemic of overweight individuals and kids that are out of shape? Or that most people talk about how in their younger days they were able to do this and that. Yet these people are only 30 years old?

Most people think nutrition is common sense. But these people are completely wrong.

You see, common sense isn't specialized knowledge, but just native good judgment. Many times common sense is when it comes to many things in life are learned behaviors from parents, teachers, mentors or coaches. We get at lot of this common knowledge thru what we see as well. Driving on the right of left side of the road is common sense in your country. You get this from what you see.

The REAL four biggest problems when it comes to nutrition and common sense is that:

1- You learn what to eat from T.V. How crazy is that? I don't think I've seen a good commercial about just eating right. It's always about diets, points, fad diets, crazy workout stuff or fast food. Many kids get plenty of T.V. They don't understand why sugar cereal isn't part of a complete breakfast.

2- You learn what you see at home. If you were a witness to a lot of healthy eating habits (fruits, vegetables, moderate portions) then you probably got a lot of your good eating habits from your parents or guardians.

3- You learn to finish everything that's put in front of you. Does it matter if your hunger was satisfied half-way thru the meal? Or have you been told it was rude not to eat everything. You start to learn that finishing what's in front of you is more important then if you are hungry or not.

4- You learn nutrition at school. Some schools have good programs. Many do not. The only exposure most school children receive is the food pyramid. And then it's off to lunch period where they are served fish sticks and a variety of other unhealthy items. Only a few schools have a very healthy lunch option. It's pretty rare. You learn more about ancient Egyptians then you do about how to put together a healthy meal and what the heck is a complex carb.

This is an important concept -- so let me break it down and explain it in detail.

Most things we learn are common sense. It's common sense not to touch a hot stove. Why? Somebody told you or you tried it and your body responded by telling the pain receptors in your hand that it didn't like that.

You learned the stove was hot and not fun to touch. Common sense. It didn't require any specialized knowledge.

Then it hit me...

Neither should nutrition. It doesn't require any specialized knowledge to eat correctly. But yet it's not common sense.

The reason most people get it wrong is because they were never taught!

They received a lot of information from T.V. which was promoting diets and fast food and sugar cereals.

Their parents didn't learn either so they passed that onto their children.

There's a pressure to finish everything that is put in front of you (don't be wasteful) ignoring the absence of the hunger feeling.

The lack of sound nutrition in most schools. You learn how to read in school. You learn how to write. You learn how to solve math problems. You learn history and you learn different cultures.

I'll bet you can guess what happened next.

You never learn the definition of a complete meal.

You start by learning that right now...

A complete meal always includes a lean protein and a natural, complex carbohydrate. The best meal of all for muscle-building and fat-burning purposes contains three things:

1. Lean protein (chicken, fish, egg whites, etc)

2. Starchy carb (potato, rice, etc)

3. Fibrous carb (broccoli, green beans, salad, etc)

And that, is the biggest benefit of having a complete meal and understanding just how simple it is to create meals with these three steps.

So watch for your next issue of this mini-course, where I'll reveal the single most important question about how much cardio should you do.

Yours For Continued Success

Healthy Weight Loss Programs-The Answer To Prolonged Quality Of Life

For a very significant (and growing) minority of people living in the west today waging a lifelong battle with being overweight is the price to be paid for all the other comforts of living in today’s post-industrial society. This is an issue that society as a whole has only really just got to grips with as the magnitude of the cost to the health and economic welfare of the populace at large, has become realised, with people now being encouraged to embrace healthy weight loss programs.

A lot of people do not realise that being overweight is very much an environmental issue. Today we are all increasingly aware of environmental issues and more conscious of the health implications of being fat, we don’t realise that these subjects are closely interrelated. The plague of obesity in the western world is largely a function of the social environment in which we live nowadays because present day living conditions are substantially at odds with the environment that human beings evolved to survive in, over many millennia. This disparity between the conditions in which we are adapted to thrive naturally and the pampered and overprovided lives most of us live today, is the single most significant reason that so many people suffer from weight related health issues. Anyone with a weight problem can benefit from understanding exactly how these factors impact weight loss efforts, in order to follow a healthier course.

Medical trials have shown that obesity has a strong link with the development of something called the “metabolic syndrome”, a term applied to a cluster of medical problems including elevated insulin levels, high blood pressure, excessive waistline body fat and increased cholesterol, which increase the risk of diabetes stroke and heart disease. Men with three of these factors are twice as likely to suffer heart attack or stroke and three times as likely to develop heart disease. Anyone who thinks they may have any of the components of metabolic syndrome, should urgently consider appropriate lifestyle changes by quitting smoking and getting onto a proven healthy diet & fitness program, to avoid developing one of these life

One of the factors of living in today’s high-pressure world is a tendency for people to want results “yesterday”. It is not surprising therefore that so many people chase after “quick fix” weight loss answers even though the results are invariably not long-lasting and which often end in disappointment and disillusionment. People who travel down this road come to realise that achieving lasting weight loss is more important than gaining just temporary weight loss and that, in fact, rapid weight loss is nearly always just temporary. People in this situation need to look carefully around for the answers to achieving long term sustainable weight loss, which may take longer to achieve but is a much more worthwhile destination.

Whilst some people decry government intervention in matters of health or lifestyle there is a growing awareness by many in positions of public responsibility that the cost to society of an unchecked epidemic of obesity could be very significant and this is driving a move to increase public awareness. The thought that the latest generation of children born in the west today might be the first ever to have a life expectancy LESS than their parents, is a sobering one. This is a result of the way we live today, but we do not have to put our children and ourselves at risk. We have a choice. If you are overweight you owe it to yourself to seek out healthy weight loss programs to join before this becomes a health issue.

Exercise Recovery Nutrition Plan: Who Needs It?

How should you refuel your body after exercise? We seem to be surrounded by commercial recovery foods and fluids. These recovery foods and fluids offer a combination of carbs and protein, but are they the best for exercise recovery nutrition?

If you are an athlete who exercises one or two times a day to the point of total exhaustion, you most definitely need to focus upon adequate recovery nutrition. A few examples of this type of an exerciser would be swimmers preparing for competition or even high school males and females preparing for any type of sport competition.

For those athletes who need to focus upon an adequate recovery nutrition plan, you will be better off planning in advance the right foods and fluids to replace calories, carbohydrates, protein, fluids and sodium. Your best choices are probably not a commercially prepared plan.

If you are tired, time is an issue and are without a planned ahead nutrition recovery plan, the simplest solution is to drink less water and more cranberry, grape or any other of your favorite fruit juice. Juices provide the fluid, carbs and calories you need right after strenuous exercise.

If you need to lose weight and restrict calorie intake you are better off to fuel your body appropriately in daytime to ensure your ability to perform during strong workouts. Enjoy a light dinner and fewer evening snacks. The worse thing you can do is restrict calories during the day and exercise on an empty stomach.

If you exercise solely for good health and fitness three or four times a week for 30 to 60 minutes per session, you can be less focused on recovery nutrition. Your body does not become depleted during fitness work-outs. You also have plenty of time to “naturally” refuel before the next work-out.

What is a good recovery nutrition plan?

Since muscles rely on carbohydrates, the athlete should plan to replenish depleted blood sugar and muscle glycogen within 30 minutes of post-exercise. It may require some concentration and definitely some planning to refuel your body with the appropriate carbohydrates after an intense work-out. Athletes who weigh 100 to 200 pounds need 300 to 600 calories of carbohydrates repeatedly every two hours for six hours. NowÂ….the worse thing you can do is not plan ahead to have the appropriate carbohydrates on hand and grab a donut, a hot dog, a burger or chips right after your intense work-out. These things will not refuel your blood sugar and muscle glycogen and your muscles will of course not recover from the demands of strenuous exercise. If this type of eating continues your health will suffer some dire consequences. Be wise and plan ahead with the appropriate carbohydrates. Some quick sources would be an instant breakfast drink (I use these for myself often and always feel an instant healthy boost of energy). Fruit smoothies are excellent sources of carbs, fluids and protein.

Dehydration is indicated by scanty, dark urine. Thirst is a poor indicator of whether or not you have had enough to drink. If you become severely dehydrated you may need 24 to 48 hours to totally replace the loss. To combat severe dehydration sip on an enjoyable beverage until your urine is pale yellow like lemonade. Fruit juices, smoothies and milk shakes are better than sport drinks. It is better to drink orange juice than Gatorade. Orange juice has much more potassium.

Your best bet is to prevent dehydration altogether. A simple way to determine how much fluid you need is to weigh yourself naked before and after an hour of hard exercise during which you drank nothing. A two pound per hour loss equals one quart. In this example you would need to drink 8 ounces every 15 minutes of exercise.

When you sweat during exercise you lose sodium. You would have to sweat hard for more than 4 to 6 hours before you would actually deplete your body’s sodium supply. An athlete exerciser can easily replace sodium losses with just a standard diet that offers 6 to 12 times the amount of needed sodium. A sodium recovery diet for athletes could consist of eating salty foods such soup, pretzels, salted crackers. Sport drinks are a weaker source of sodium as compared to soup, pretzels and salted crackers. Should not be too difficult to pack extra pretzels or salted crackers for your strenuous work-out sessions.

Muscles need time as well as adequate carbs and calories to refuel and heal. Take a day off after a hard workout to allow your muscles to recuperate. Daily hard exercise does not increase performance. It only increases your chances for injury.

Exercising to Lose Weight or to Become Healthier?

You really should try and separate exercise from weight loss. Think of exercise as something you do for enjoyment that will in turn make you healthier, fit and more able to withstand stress. If you need to lose weight, pay attention to your calorie intake and cut back a couple 100 calories a day for one year while you exercise for enjoyment. You should reap rewards both in how you feel as well as how you look. Taking a day off between work-outs is also recommended for the exerciser who seeks good health and fitness from their exercise routines. You need to allow your body to recover and heal. Overdoing it will not bring you faster or better results. You will probably end up with injury instead. However, you will not need to focus upon an exercise recovery nutrition plan. You can still use the advice given here for athletes, but in general, you will not suffer any dire consequences if you do not practice an exercise recovery nutrition plan.

Facts About Vitamin Nutritional Supplements

Vitamins are a very important part of a healthy balanced diet. They are essential for speeding up chemical reactions in our body and are also needed to prevent certain diseases. Fresh fruits and vegetables are the main sources of nearly all kinds of vitamins. Eggs and milk also provide a lot of vitamins. However, when we don't eat enough of these foods, it can cause vitamin deficiency within our body. This vitamin deficiency can be cured by taking a handful of multivitamin nutritional supplements. Vitamin supplements are important because other nutrients, such as minerals, work with the vitamins in the form of enzymes and coenzymes to help fight against certain diseases.

A few years ago people thought that eating a healthy diet was sufficient enough to keep an individual fit and healthy. However, recent research has shown that taking supplements is beneficial even for people that eat a healthy diet. This is because modern methods of farming reduce the overall quality of vegetables, add to this the amount of time the vegetables sit on the shelves and it's no wonder that the amount of nutrients in these vegetables is reduced.

It has been established that water-soluble vitamins, like B vitamins (B6, B12 and folic acid), and vitamin C are the ones that get absorbed by the bloodstream and often leave the body when we urinate. As a consequence, even healthy diets alone are not enough to keep these vitamins at a certain level in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle which is necessary to keep a person fit and healthy. There are no clear symptoms to detect vitamin deficiency in body. However, you can correct vitamin deficiency if your daily food intake does not conform with a prescribed healthy and balanced diet.

Although it's very important to consult a diet professional before consuming any kind of vitamin or mineral food supplement, it's also necessary that you do a little research of your own to find out how to choose a particular nutritional supplement product.

There are some precautions that you must consider before choosing which nutritional supplements you should take. First of all, you need to know that there's nothing like a properly functioning and healthy body. Vitamin supplements are no comparison for natural foods, but if you think you need vitamin supplements, always put quality first. Don't go for cheaper products merely because they are cheap. Expensive products are often the ones that contain natural substances which and nearly as effective for the body as natural food sources. Your body's nutrition is very important; it is worth investing in.

Always choose supplements which use ingredients that have been suggested by renowned scientists and dietitians. A combination of Flavonoids and Phytochemicals, along with the necessary vitamins and minerals, is thought to provide a balanced supplement and is useful for improving the overall health of an individual. Green tea is an excellent source of Flavonoids. Just another thing that we can thank the Chinese for! If supplements have to be consumed, make sure they are made out of concentrated plant material.

One of the quality measures is to see if these vitamin products are coated with a colored or sugar coating to make them attractive. Don't go for these types of products, since they probably don't contain the essential substances that should be a part of any nutritional supplements. Good nutritional supplements are often composed of large tablets that smell of compressed plant-like material.

Always make sure that the company you are going to buy a vitamin supplement from is an authentic one and is either licensed or certified in providing health services. You can e-mail them or telephone them directly to ask some questions about their product. If they are accessible and provide satisfactory answers to your questions, you can consider buying their product. Your body is your temple, so when choosing supplements choose ones that you can trust!

This list of tips is by no means comprehensive, other tips and precautions must be considered before choosing the correct nutritional health supplement. Make sure that you buy a quality product that will prove to be useful for your body in the long run.

Tips On How To Write A Simple Article

How to write a simple article? Most likely there are as many different opinions about this as there are authors, but it is enough to say that with the everlasting popularity of publications on the internet, it is safe to begin with learning how to write an online article.

How to write a simple article

As there are hundreds of strict rules and strategies for writing an article full of keywords, I’d like to save you some time and effort and a possible headache too, and to teach you how to write a simple piece for online publication, an article which is included in an online database. For instance, this might be a database that accepts as well as offers its readers free articles. Furthermore, I’d like to concentrate mainly on the style or type of publication which is easiest to reach and most interesting and enjoyable to read.

It is important to know that the great majority of websites have a general topic or concern. Suppose you are going to write an article for a firm which is specialized in designing kitchen cabinets. The above-mentioned firm required ten publications to start. (Keep in mind that this is only a hypothetical situation; most sites have a database of more than 300 articles). I suppose many of us have previous experience in writing assignments in their college classes, for example a paper which is supposed to be 10 pages long on anything related to California history. It is almost the same as far as writing online articles in concerned; the web master will require ten articles about kitchen cabinets. And then you have to leave your imagination and invention work.

Go to your kitchen and carefully examine the cupboards. How many synonyms of cabinet can you think of? How these cupboards are made, what are they made of and how many parts do they have? Do you know all the kinds of materials that are used in building a cupboard? When was the oldest cabinet you’ve seen built? ( few days ago I came across one which was used in a pharmacy and was made of steel and glass, it was from the early 1920’s ). Thus, if you are a beginner at writing articles about cabinets, you could think about the types, styles, designs and materials. Here are some pieces of advice you can follow and write a couple of paragraphs choosing your own approach from one of the mentioned below.

* Define all the terms and specialized words used in cabinetry. The best way to help a potential buyer, a user or even apprentice carpenter is to include a glossary in your article.

* Make an easily readable bulleted list covering all the facts and details related to the topic

* Do a Survey – write an article about the history of the topic you’ve chosen, whether it would be a person, a place, an event or a concept

* Be sensitive about the format – using different style and font variations will help the reader distinguish the different parts of the article

Further, knowing how to write a piece of publication includes setting the right purposes: show the readers how to select, build, buy, clean, install, etc. the item you write about.

Some of the popular formats that you might want to use are listed below:

The Q and A – put some questions and then finds the best answers

The Narrative – people love stories, especially well-written ones

Try Quotes and Trivia – if you find it appropriate you can put some quotes in your article because quotes are as exciting as tales and discussions of trials and tribulations and success—with the item you are describing.

This should be a good base on which you build your article. It is a good idea to start with a website of your own, that way you would see how good is your work. Else, you could write publications for a friend of yours. What really matters in writing simple articles is to be experienced, so just get down to practicing. While working, try to enjoy it.

What is the Difference Between a Loss Assessor and Loss Adjusters?

The role of a loss assessors and loss adjusters are often confused, but if you have suffered a loss and have to liaise with your insurance company you will soon know the difference.

Your insurance company will only pay out to you the smallest amount that they can, which is often not what you feel you deserve or need to rebuild your life and even your home. The reason that you often do not receive the settlement that you should is because unless you work in the industry, you are not able to handle making a claim as thoroughly as someone who is trained to would do.

If getting the best possible settlement in your insurance claim is paramount, then employing the services of a loss assessor to deal with your claim and insurance company can be the difference between getting the money that you need and what the insurance company believes that you deserve.

Although the names of a loss assessor and a loss adjuster are very similar, their roles are very different and it is worth understanding this before you proceed with your insurance claim.

To explain, a loss adjuster works for your insurance company. They make sure that the terms of your policy are followed and they work with the insurance company to come up with the amount that is payable to you in reflection of the loss suffered.

A loss assessor works for you and only you and guarantees your claim will have a favourable and successful outcome. A loss assessor is paid only when your claim goes through and their take is a small percentage of the overall sum.

A loss assessor will make sure that the claim gets the attention that it deserves. The work that a loss assessor does can be the difference between the compensation that you need to deal with your loss and the minimum that your insurance company is prepared to pay out to you.

The main job that a loss assessor performs is to negotiate your claim with your insurance company, making sure that the claim is given the attention that it deserves and that you are advised on the legalities of your claim throughout the process. If a loss assessor deals with making your claim, your insurance company is more likely to attach more weight and seriousness to your claim.

Employing a loss assessor to proceed with your claim can make all the difference in the world, especially if your claim needs a priority status due to the nature of your circumstances.

If your insurance compensation is going to be the difference between you moving forward with your life and rebuilding a business or home, then dealing with your insurance company on your own can be like going into battle. Having someone on side, who understands the way that an insurance claim works if often a blessing and makes the process much easier and less stressful than it would be if you were dealing with the claim on your own.
