Indoor Tanning TIps

Indoor Tanning tips

Do you live in Buffalo, craving a Winter tan that says "I just got back from Cancun"? Or perhaps it's Summer in Phoenix and thirty minutes of sunless tanning beats an afternoon baking by the pool. For these and many other reasons indoor tanning may be for you.

What is Indoor Tanning?

Indoor or Sunless Tanning refers to either ultraviolet (UV) light or a spray system that gives your skin that coveted golden glow. The most common way to tan with UV light is with a home or commercial tanning bed. The best spray systems are found at commercial tanning salons. However, there are some excellent lotions and sprays that can be purchased over the counter. Most experts agree that UV light provided by the sun or a tanning bed delivers a more natural result. Therefore, the rest of this article will be focused on how to achieve the best results from a tanning bed.

Tanning Salons Versus Home Tanning

If you have the budget (and the space) home tanning is a viable option. Excellent commercial-quality beds are produced by Solar Storm, SunQuest, and ESB. Expect to spend close to $2000 for a model with 16 lamps, meter, and high-powered reflectors. Home tanning beds typically operate on 120V electricity, but please check before you buy and have to install another circuit or unplug your washing machine to get a tan.Your local commercial salon will likely have 220v Wolff or SunQuest beds with 24 lamps, ready to turbocharge your tan with some quick safety tips:

1) Build a base tan by limiting your tanning bed time to 20 or 30 minutes for starters, no more than 5 times a week;

2) Continue this schedule for 4 weeks during the base phase;

3) To maintain your tan, 2 or 3 sessions a week will do the trick;

4) For safety's sake, always wear tanning goggles while using the bed and make sure to check with your doctor is there are any conditions that may contraindicate UV exposure for you.

Tanning bed popularity continues to grow in our busy society, and most people agree than a nice tan appears healthy and sexy. Just make sure to take the same precautions you would for being out in the Sun, being sure to tan and not burn. The good news is that tanning beds are generally accepted as being less risky than sun exposure because you can tan in much less time.

But if it's February in Buffalo, you should still jump on than discount charter package to Mexico!

How to Tighten Saggy Skin and Reduce Stretch Marks from Weight Loss

Losing weight can be a happy time, especially if you have struggled with the battle of the bulge for years. However, no matter how thrilling rapid weight loss can be, even the praise and congratulations from others noticing your weight loss won't combat the frustration you'll feel from having saggy skin and stretch marks. Rapid weight loss often causes loss of skin elasticity. While your crash diet is burning fat in overload, your epidermis and skin's collagen levels are unable to keep pace. The result is loose flesh, or even small striations or lines on the skin on the places where a significant amount of fat or muscle was lost too quickly. Overnight weight loss is not great for your health and the visible manifestation of embarrassing red lines, marks, and loose flesh will only more upset. Yet, if you have chosen to do a Celebrity Crash Diet and have encountered loose skin or stretch marks, this article will provide some steps to firm your skin, fade stretch marks, and regenerate your skin's elasticity by stimulating collagen production.

Stretch Mark Reducing Rule #1: Use Natural Oils to Fade Your Stretch Marks.

Try Massaging Pure Cocoa Butter into your stretch marks. Pure Cocoa Butter is only effective; do not purchase drugstore brands loaded with chemicals and synthetic ingredients. To find pure cocoa butter, visit your local whole foods store in your local city or an organic shopping resource online. Cocoa butter contains antioxidants and minerals that improve skin elasticity and fade marks.

Try Soothing Your Stretch Marks With Pure Vitamin E Oil. Again, make sure you purchase Pure Vitamin E Oil from your local health food store. Many drugstores or local neighborhood stores contain Vitamin E oil that has been significantly diluted in cheaper carrier oils. Vitamin E has a regenerative effect on the skin, prevents oxidation and fights free radicals. Buy using it your skin's will look younger and firmer.

Stretch Mark Reducing Rule #2: Use Natural Scar and Stretch Mark Products to Eliminate Your Stretch Marks.
Try natural products that contain essential and natural oils. Many essential and natural oils contain scar reducing and tissue regenerating properties. Many essential oils also have the ability to tone, tighten, and firm loose, wrinkly skin. Look for only natural products. A product that contains the littlest element of a chemical or synthetic substance may potentially ruin your efforts to eliminate your stretch marks, especially the efforts of those with sensitive, mature, or dry skin.
Watch out for "natural" products that contain glycols, acids, alcohols, sulfates, and parabens. These ingredients will only strip your skin of moisture while also exposing it to many FDA identified skin irritants. The fact that they strip the skin of natural oils is critical because moisture is necessary to reduce stretch marks.
Look for products that contain wheat germ, cocoa butter, aloe vera, orange essential oil, lime essential oil, emu oil, and rosehip seed oil. All of these have been studied in clinical trials and proven as effective treatments for individuals with stretch marks. The best, most reasonably priced, all natural stretch marks reducing product is Beauty 4 Ashes No More Shame Shock Therapy System. This system includes: a body scrub to exfoliate the dead skin cells and penetrate the skin with moisture, a heat activated bath oil with stretch mark reducing essential oils, and a scar reducing body butter. The product recently received a 4.5 out of 5 stars in a consumer magazine rating. My daughter used it during and after her pregnancy weight gain and never saw a stretch mark at all. You can find them online at wwwdiscoverb4acom.

Stretch Mark Reducing Rule #3: Eat foods that get skin firming and collage restoring nutrients in your body, such as Vitamin C, K, D, A, E, and Essential Fatty Acids.

If you are still dieting, try to add citrus fruits, such as grapefruits into your meal plan. Grapefruits are lower in sugar, firm the skin, have a diuretic effects, and are great sources of Vitamin C. Eat more whole grains. Whole grains are a great source of Vitamin E and A. Don't skip out on your veggies, which will give you a healthy dose of Vitamin A, K, and more.
Cook your foods in oils full Omega 3, 6, and 9 Essential Fatty Acids, such as Sesame, Safflower, Camelina, Olive and Sunflower. You can even include them on your salad. Essential Fatty Acids are not made by the body, but have an amazing impact on the skin. Up your intake of fish, it will do wonders for your skin.

Stretch Mark Reducing Rule #4: Exercise Your Skin Back to Health
This article would be remiss if it didn't emphasize the most important truth. You should avoid crash diets. Do not be in a rush to lose weight. Normal weight loss is about 8-15 pounds a month, depending on your height, current weight, and build. Avoid crash diets. They wreak havoc on your digestive system and skin. Moreover, always incorporate some form of light resistance training into your exercise regime to keep your skin firm.

Calorie Shifting Meal Planner - Calorie Shifting Diet

The Calorie Shifting meal planner allows you to chart your own personalized road map for weight loss. It essentially lets you create your own customized menu that you will be expected to follow.

The diet lasts for eleven consecutive days. On each day, you will be required to eat four complete meals. By complete is meant that you are encouraged to eat as much food as you desire at each meal until you feel completely satisfied. But you should stop eating just short of reaching the brink of becoming too full. In other words, you must learn to recognize the various of stages of hunger or fullness that your body goes through by paying attention to your appetite - to the feelings in your belly.

With respect to your four daily meals, you are allowed to eat them in any order that you choose. The decision is entirely up to you. The diet works just as effectively irrespective of the sequence in which you eat those meals throughout the day. The point is that you are grouping your calories together and shifting them from meal to meal.

Additionally, you are required to keep a minimum of at least two and a half to three hours of a gap in between each meal. You'd be surprised at how effective this one rule by itself is! A lot of the difficulty that many people face when it comes to weight management is that they do not give a sufficient enough gap in between each meal. You must allow your previous meal to fully digest before you eat your next meal. But if you eat too soon again after your previous meal, while your body is still digesting the previous meal, guess what is going to happen to the second meal? It will be treated like "excess" food and become excess fat.

The Calorie Shifting meal planner will, based on your input, create a customized meal plan, just for you, that consists of a healthy balance of plentiful varieties of food from all four food groups.
Would you like to try out an 11-day sample menu?

The Calorie Shifting Diet is a revolutionary dieting breakthrough.

This diet succeeds where others fail.

Low-calorie, low-carbohydrate, low-fat, and low-sodium diets are all doomed to fail.

It's very hard to maintain those diets without running the risk of falling into temptation and sabotaging your own diet.

Calorie Shifting works on an entirely different principle: Eat as much food as you want at each meal until you are completely satisfied. You can eat foods from all four major food groups.

Is there a catch? There sure is, but once you learn what it is, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

You'll kick yourself for wondering why you wasted your time on other diets when you should have been following the Calorie Shifting diet!

The Calorie Shifting diet even offers its own customizable Online Diet Generator to help you create fool-proof diet plans that are guaranteed to help you lose at least 9 pounds every 11 days!

What Are The Negative Effects Of Black Mold On My Health?

Black molds are known to bring serious health problems in human beings. Though this type of fungus is essential for earth's ecosystem, it is not at all good for our health. You must stop this indoor toxin from growing, as it may result in serious health issues.

Black mold gets nutrition from dead organic materials by decomposing them into simpler forms. They reproduce through spore formation. Molds grow at an alarming rate and it becomes very difficult to control them.

Such mold releases mycotoxins in the air, which can be inhaled by people through breathing. Direct contact with these types of mold is another mode of entry. There are numerous health problems which are associated with the exposure to black mold.

Initial symptoms of this toxic fungus are allergic reactions to cold or dust, and ignoring these early symptoms can be dangerous. Health issues due to such mold may turn out to be very serious if no action is taken against its growth. Some of the symptoms of these types of mold are stuffy and runny nose, difficulty while breathing, throat irritation and headache. There can be many other allergic reaction of mold exposure, but it is advisable that you consult a doctor to know the exact cause of the allergy.

In some cases, people may feel congested as soon as they get in contact with such mold or enter an infected room. When these types of symptoms occur, you must be very careful. Skin rashes, itchiness and swelling are other common mold symptoms. People suffering from asthma may experience severe conditions in the presence of such mold. Other common mold health effects include weaker immune system, sickness, diarrhea and even death in some cases.

There are many ways to get rid of black mold and some people use bleaches to kill this mold. However, bleach cannot reach every single corner of your room, where molds nest. Moreover, bleaches clean the house for the time being but fail to prevent it from future contamination. Bleach is also not good for health, which further adds to health problems.

Natural black mold killer is a better option, because they are free from side effects and also prevent future mold growth efficiently. For best results, you must do regular inspection for mold growth. Before such mold invades your entire house, you must prevent its growth. You must avoid moisture retention and try maintaining good ventilation throughout the house.

The Importance of a Heart Healthy Lifestyle

Does it really make a difference to your heart?

In today’s world there is a great deal of talk about eating heart healthy foods and living a lifestyle that promotes a healthy heart. Although this doesn’t tend to be problem for the older generation who understands the importance of keeping their hearts healthy, questions regarding the importance of the under 40s worrying about the health of their hearts tends to bring some controversy to the table. It raises the question about why someone in their 20s and 30s should have to concern themselves with something that will not affect them for ten or twenty years if at all.

Heart Problems Are Not Just for Those Over 40

One misconception many people have is that they don’t really have to worry about the health of their hearts until they reach middle age. Unfortunately this misconception is what causes many people to neglect their heart’s health and increase the chances of a heart attack early in life. This is especially true if you are in the high risk category for heart disease such as having high cholesterol, a history of heart disease, or suffer from obesity. All of these factors tie into the health of your heart, and in order to prevent heart disease, you need to take care of your heart regardless of your age.

Factors that Contribute to Heart Problems

Many factors in our lives can cause early onset heart disease, but the most common factors are diet, lack of exercise, and weight. For those who are genetically prone to early onset heart disease, lifestyle is even more important. It’s important to make lifestyle changes in order to prevent heart disease no matter how old or young you are. However, you do not want to wait until you are a high risk candidate for heart disease because by then it may be too late to undo any damage you have already done to your heart. Let me address these issues briefly one at a time.

Diet

One of the major contributors to heart disease is diet food we eat. High fat foods cause high cholesterol which in turn blocks the arteries to the heart. Although this problem doesn’t usually cause problems until we are older, by then it is very difficult to change our eating habits. After you have eaten greasy, high fat foods for many years, the adjustment to healthier eating is more difficult.

Lack of Exercise

Leading a sedentary lifestyle is another cause of heart disease. Over the years there has been an increase in the number of reported cases of early onset heart disease, and cardiologists tie this into the sedentary lifestyle that many of us lead today. There is a need to increase the heart rate in order to stay healthy, and we cannot do this sitting in front of the television or the computer. Most of us won’t even walk to the corner store for a loaf of bread let alone perform any heart healthy exercises. Sadly for many, exercise is limited to pushing buttons on the remote control.

Weight

The problem of obesity in both North America and Europe is on the rise, and as a result heart disease is on the rise as well. nutritionists believe the problem lies in the fast food industry with the problem beginning in childhood. With two income families a necessity today, fewer children are eating healthy meals at home. The sad part is that quick meals can be healthy meals if you choose carefully. The choices you make early in life will affect you later in life. Prevent obesity from the start by making healthy eating choices, and you have battled one of factors that will affect the health of your heart.

Vitamins For Vegetarians

There are a lot of vegetarians amongst us, some by circumstance and some by choice. Those that are vegetarians by choice can be divided into two general groups, those that do not eat meat, poultry or fish, but do consume dairy products as – in theory – the animals are not harmed or killed by the gathering of those products. Vegans, however, use no animal products whatsoever.

There are many health benefits to a planned vegetarian diet, as opposed to the unplanned vegetarian diets that result from poverty and a lack of food availability. However, there are also some special precautions that need to be taken to safeguard nutrition, as adequate amounts of some of the most important nutrients can be more difficult to obtain. This is especially true for those following the more restrictive vegan diet.

The body is a complex and delicate system, and the foundation of all of its functioning is chemical and electrical actions, interactions and reactions. The operation of this system rests firmly upon the balance of these chemicals. The majority of the chemicals in these essential physical processes come from the food that we eat, from the nutrients that come from its consumption. Thus, nutrition has a deep influence of the health of the body and the quality of its functioning.

Because the brain, like the body, functions on chemical reactions and electrical impulses, the processes of cognition, emotion, and so on, are also affected by nutrition. In fact, deficiencies in certain vitamins and minerals can result in mental illness and retardation, as well as cognitive dysfunction and difficulties and emotional instability.

The Vitamin B complex offers a perfect example of how vegetarians must pay special attention to their diets to ensure peak performance of body and mind. The Vitamin B complex is involved with every major system in the body and has a role in almost every important bodily process. It is essential to mental health and functioning, and essential to life itself. However, there are certain Vitamin B complex vitamins that need special attention by vegetarians, as vegetarians do not consume the richest sources of these vitamins.

The richest sources of Vitamin B2 are milk and organ meats. It is available in enriched breads and cereals, but care must be taken to consume the right amount daily. Niacin and Vitamin B6 are other B complex vitamins in which the richest sources are meats and, again, are available in smaller concentrations in enriched breads and cereals. Vitamin B12 is only found in animal products. It is important to note that vitamin B12, in addition to being important to the production of red blood cells, is essential for the normal growth of children.

Nutritional supplements can serve to enhance the health benefits of the vegetarian lifestyle. Indeed, they can serve to prevent the serious health consequences that vitamin deficiency can cause. Nutrition is especially essential for children, as their minds and bodies are growing and developing. If you are vegetarian or vegan, you may want to consider the complete, safe and reliable nutrition that dietary supplements can provide.

Tips For A Working Woman

With a more liberated society, it is no longer uncommon for women to hold full-time jobs. The glass ceiling that has been a barrier for women in the area of wages are showing clear cracks. Even in the area of management strategy, some of the best thinkers are women academics.

However, working women still have to grapple with the multi-roles that they play – these are traditional expectations of society. An example is in the area of looking after the welfare of their young children and domestic upkeep.

This article will provide tips for working women with a young family and without a full-time domestic help:

Communicate With Your Husband:

It is important that you communicate with your husband about sharing household and domestic chores. This should not be a difficult process as your income also helps pay the bills and your husband must be a team player. A high priority should be the area of the children’s well-being and study supervision.

Time Management:

Time management is an under-rated virtue. You should draw up a weekly chart to manage your time. This weekly chart must be realistic and take into account your children’s tests, extra-curricular activities, household shopping needs. Remember to get the active involvement of your husband.

Getting External Help:

If you and your husband have busy schedules, it is also good to source out for part-time external help to assist in the cleaning and cooking. Alternatively, you can seek the help of your parents to supervise the welfare of the children or register your children to a nearby student care centre. However, it must be remembered that no amount of external help can substitute for quality time with your children. Try to set aside at least the weekends to spend undisturbed time with your family.

Concentrating At Work:

Since you are working for a company, you must ensure that your full concentration should be on your work. Do not use company time to handle domestic administration unless it is of utmost importance. You are also entitled to take emergency time-off if needed so it is crucial that you keep your superiors informed.

Working Long Hours:

It is not uncommon to work long hours, as workers are sometimes required to multi-task. It is important for you to strike a balance and important to inform your husband about your late hours so that your children are not neglected after their normal school hours. You can also request to finish some of your work at home if it requires computer processing. Most families have at least a computer desktop at home.

Interaction with Male Colleagues:

If the nature of your job requires constant interaction with male colleagues after working hours, it is good practice to inform your husband. You can easily send an SMS to him to inform your whereabouts and he can arrange to fetch you home.

Attendance of Official Functions:

Inform your husband in advance if you are required to attend an official function – Office D & D etc. This will allow your husband to get to know your working colleagues and fully appreciate your job responsibilities. Your husband will also be more cooperative if you are required to work beyond the normal hours.

Further Studies – The Dilemma:

Being a workingwoman, you have to consider about upgrading your skills. This may require pursuing further studies after working hours. Yet again, you should express your decision to study with your husband and loved ones so that logistical/financial arrangements can be arranged in advance.

Signs of EPI in the German Shepherd Dog

In all dogs diagnosed to have Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency, the German Shepherd Dog is very often seen as well as the Rough-coated Collie. One estimate shows that about 70% of all dogs diagnosed with EPI are German Shepherds while 20% are Rough-coated Collies.

Exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (also called EPI) is a medical condition in which the pancreas of the affected German Shepherd Dog (GSD) stops producing enough digestive enzymes to digest food normally in its small intestine.

Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency in the GSD can result from primary pancreatic disease or any number of other diseases that interfere with the correct production of enzymes by the pancreas or of activation of the enzymes in the intestine.

What is the pancreas and EPI? And what does this have to do with my own personal German Shepherd?

Briefly: the "exocrine" part of the pancreas is responsible for producing the enzymes we all use to digest our food correctly. Without adequate production of these particular enzymes your German Shepherd cannot digest its food properly either.

If your German Shepherd can't digest it's food, it will not be able to absorb all the food's nutrients properly. Keep in mind, Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency can be potentially life threatening, especially in its acute form, but often responds well to ongoing and daily treatments when diagnosed and treated with the proper drugs.

Typically, the exocrine functions of the pancreas can malfunction in one of two ways. First, in acute pancreatitis, the dog's pancreas becomes inflamed, causing vomiting and loss of appetite with resulting dehydration. This does require immediate veterinary attention.

Secondly, a previously healthy German Shepherd Dog may begin to exhibit a few or all of the following symptoms: excessive water-drinking, ravenous appetite and very soft "cow patty" stools. This is indeed a big tell. No matter how much the dog eats, it will be hungry soon after and will soon begin to lose weight. Typically, exocrine pancreatic insufficiency in the GSD is presented in young adult dogs between 1 to 5 years of age.
The diagnosis of EPI needs to be confirmed by use of laboratory tests. Diarrhea and foul smelling feces due to high fat content results and because all the food ingredients are not being digested completely the German Shepherd will quickly become malnourished.

Signs of Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency in the GSD:

' Diarrhea and foul smelling "cow patty" feces.

' Increased gut sounds.

' Excessive water-drinking.

' weight loss.

' Signs of nutritional deficiency (ex. dry and brittle hair, anemia)

' Ravenous appetite.

Treatment of Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency in the GSD:

Treatment of EPI often involves the use of various replacement pancreatic enzymes. These are given orally to your German Shepherd. Occasionally oral antibiotics may be needed as well. Most often, these EPI products are given in powder form or as crushed tablets, then mixed with the food and left on it for about 30 minutes at room temperature before feeding takes place.

Recommended diet to deal with EPI:

' Feed several small meals daily (at least 3 or more)

' Feed a highly digestible, palatable, complete ration. Consult you veterinarian

' Ideal diet for a dog with EPI : low fiber, low in fat, low excess carbohydrates

Keep in mind, once diagnosed, this treatment is a lifelong commitment for you and your German Shepherd. It may be possible to regulate the condition of Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency in the German Shepherd Dogs who are not so severely affected by feeding a very bland low-fat, low-fiber diet and adding an over-the-counter enzyme supplement.

For the more severely affected German Shepherd a more serious regime is required. If EPI enzyme supplementation is stopped for any reason then all the unpleasant symptoms will recur in your dog - and very soon. Oftentimes the German Shepherds response to therapy can be seen within a week or so of starting treatment.

The owner of a German Shepherd diagnosed with Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency needs to be very attentive to their GSD's overall condition. After figuring out the correct amount of enzyme(s) needed to produce relatively normal stools and to stop weight loss, the GSD owner can usually feed enough food to help the dog regain lost weight. Relapses are always possible and are shown either in the return of diarrhea or in resumed weight loss.

The dogs owner will have to watch carefully for any of these returning symptoms. Generally speaking, as long as the German Shepherd owner is vigilant in maintaining the diet and enzyme supplements needed by the Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency patient, then the dog with Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency can live a happy and relatively normal life.

High Intensity Interval Training: A New Frontier in Weight Loss

Are you exercising for long periods of time to try to burn fat? If you’re like most people you probably are, but there is a better, more efficient way. It’s called “high intensity interval training” (HIIT) and lately it has started to become pretty famous for its obvious health benefits.

-So, just how do you perform HIIT?

Simply put, HIIT is based around this concept: Go fast then go slow. Repeat. You can perform HIIT routines on pretty much any machine you want like a treadmill, elliptical machine, cycling machine, or apply it to almost any sport (swimming, cycling, running). Try to keep the bursts of speed at around 90%-100% of max effort.

Here is a sample HIIT routine:

Sprint 20 Seconds

Rest 10 Seconds

Repeat 4-8 Times

Or

Sprint 15 Seconds

Rest 5 Seconds

Repeat 4-6 Times

These are just samples, you can change it however you want (you could even use distance instead of time). Remember though, HIIT is based around the concept of fast bursts of work. Also, to continually challenge yourself and also to continually make progress you should increase the level of effort required. You could add extra sprint cycles to the routine, shorten the rest periods, lengthen the sprint periods, try to run farther in the set amount of time, or (if you are going for distance instead of time), try to complete the distance in a shorter amount of time. When starting out on your HIIT routine, don’t kill yourself the first time though. You may have to work your way up, don’t be afraid to start out at a low intensity with low sprint times and high rest times.

-What Are the Benefits of HIIT?

--Major Increase in Fat Loss

In a study done by Tremblay and other authors, two groups were assigned different training regimens. Group A performed the regular moderate intensity cardio (like jogging or bicycling) for 20 weeks and Group B performed a HIIT routine for 15 weeks. In the end the results of each group were recorded. Group B lost nine times more fat than Group A and in 5 weeks less! (1)

--Increased Lactic Acid Threshold

Lactic acid is that burning sensation you feel when you work a muscle really hard. Lactic acid is a byproduct of the processes your body uses to make your muscles work. When too much lactic acid accumulates in the muscles, the muscles become fatigued. You’re lactic acid threshold is how fast your body can remove the lactic acid in your muscles. When your body can remove lactic acid more efficiently, then you can work the muscles at a higher intensity for a longer period of time before they become fatigued.

--Shorter Workouts

I don’t know about you, but I definitely would rather crank it up a notch and exercise for 4-8 minutes in comparison to staring at the wall in the local gym for 30 minutes to an hour joggingÂ…or performing any other slow, and somewhat boring type of cardio.

-So why does HIIT burn more fat than regular moderate intensity cardio, like jogging?

To put it simply, after your HIIT training session is over with your metabolism explodes and tons of calories are being burned. These calories are being burned because your body must recover from the HIIT workout you just exposed it to (the details as to why exactly this happens are pretty complicated, and would take a long time to explain, so I’ll spare you). Just understand that after the workout, not during the workout, is when the fat is being burnt.

HIIT offers people an extremely effective and, as shown by the study done by Tremblay and other authors, a very fast way to eliminate fat. In addition to this, it can increase your muscle’s resistance to fatigue. Although, probably the best part about this type of training is that you no longer have to spend 30 minutes to an hour at your gym jogging away your life on the treadmill.

Here's a tip: Personally, I enjoy listening to some type of fast paced music while performing an HIIT workout. Doing this can really increase the intensity of your workout, and similarly, the productivity of it as well. Some type of MP3 player usually works best because they don't jiggle around very much.

If you decide to take up HIIT training you may want to check it out with your doctor first. This type of training is incredibly effective, but it is also very intense.

How To Lose Belly Fat The Vegetarian Way

As a vegetarian, it should be easier for you to lose belly fat since you're not intoxicating your body with fat-amassing toxins, long-chain fats and very long-chain fats (hardest type of fat to break down) from eating animal carcasses. However, vegetarians are growing on belly size is an indisputable fact due to their unhealthy vegetarian lifestyle and poor eating habits.

Like I said, a vegetarian will lose belly fat much easier than a non-vegetarian, so let's see what you can do to quickly shed that extra inches off your stomach and make it flat.

1. Which Vegetarian Foods are Effective to Lose Belly Fat?

Your vegetarian weight loss diet should contain at least 50% vegetables because vegetables really carry tons of fiber and toxin-removal nutrients that will help you flush out toxins accumulated (from your processed vegetarian food intake) in your fat cells. Intoxicated fat cells can be extremely difficult to metabolize as energy for body use.

So, first step is to get rid of those toxins. And vegetables like carrot, radish, kelp, cucumber, radish, bean sprouts, celery, cabbage, bok choy, pumpkin, asparagus etc are particularly good on losing stomach fat.

2. Less Food More Meals

You should include 5 - 7 small vegetarian meals in your vegetarian weight diet plan. This way you'll provide your body with continual food supply but yet do not stuff your stomach too full after each meal. The best part is, you'll boost your metabolism to burn belly fat throughout the day.

You can set 3 main meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) and the rest all light snacks to keep you going. Bottom line - always keep your stomach busy but don't keep it full.

3. Say 'No' to Empty-Calorie Drinks

Simple or refined sugar lurking in coffee or soda pop is one major culprit that makes your belly fat grow. High calorie content in beer does the same. These beverages offer you nothing but calories. Cut down on these sweetened beverages. Ingest healthier options like natural green tea (without sugar) and best, plain water.

4. Fat-Burning Workouts for Belly Fat Loss

Stop wasting time and effort on crunches or other single-joint exercises to target your tummy. They don't work. Do total body ab exercises like pushups, mountain climbers, spiderman climbs, side planks, cross-body mountain climbers, jumping jacks etc.

These exercises work well to help non-vegetarians lose belly fat, but it'll work even better for you, a vegetarian.

You'll lose belly fat relatively fast as a vegetarian provided you combine these tips in good common sense.

Natural Weight Loss for Good Health and Well Being

weight loss is becoming an unhealthy obsession dealing with body images, but in some cases can improve health and fitness. When weight loss is a result of eating healthy, exercising and/or taking natural weight loss supplements in contrast to synthetic prescription drugs with the risk of harmful side effects, weight loss can be effective, rewarding, and greatly improve overall health.

Extra weight, especially extra fat on a person's body, applies significantly increased stresses on the heart, joints and back. These stresses can be extremely detrimental to one's health. Healthy weight loss can reduce the risk of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, arthritis and other health problems, as well as generally extending an otherwise average life span. Recently, the scientific root cause or explanation of obesity has been revealed as being part of one's physiology. The internal functions of an obese person are different than those of a healthy person, and cause intense hunger pains and food cravings.

Natural weight loss supplements can help counteract this constant hunger and lead to healthy weight loss. Unbalanced hormones are a common cause of weight gain, therefore taking natural hormone balancers and herbal supplements would help to create a healthy weight loss regimen. Restoring your health allows you to lose weight naturally, without excess frustration and effort. It's all about losing weight from the inside out.

Emotional issues always accompany change, especially changes in our bodies e.g. natural weight loss. Weight loss affects our perception body image, our sense of identity i.e. who am I?, and how we feel about ourselves in general. Weight loss also effects our social relationships in that there may be people in our family or social contacts that are emotionally invested in our remaining the same i.e. overweight with all that it symbolizes e.g. friendliness, non-threatening, protective, jovial, helpful, etc. Beyond our physical health, it can be said that "size matters" cognitively and emotionally to ourselves and others. Eating and food have come to symbolize being accepted, being cared for and comfort. Having the support of others in our efforts to naturally lose weight and regain our health is a huge advantage.

We have been "conditioned" to fear any kind of loss, including weight loss. Especially if what we may lose is something with which we identify i.e. use to tell us who we are.

The emotions of fear, anger, anxiety and depression effect our weight. We often tend to "stuff our feelings" or numb these emotional feelings or stress by overeating. We may even overeat, thinking that will ease the physical discomfort caused by excess weight e.g. physical pain, lack of sleep, and lack of energy caused by moderate depression. To improve our overall health and support us through the process of natural weight loss and the emotional dynamics around it, we can take advantage of natural sleep aids, natural depression relief and natural pain relief health care products.

Our weight and health is greatly dependent upon our having a healthy digestive system or metabolism. Our digestive system converts, on a cellular and muscular level, the foods we eat, eliminates toxins, and uses and stores glucose for energy. Natural enzymes trigger hunger signals and facilitate absorption of nutrition. Good digestion with the help of natural enzymes aids in the conversion of fat to muscle.

Allergy and sensitivity to food, parasites, yeast overgrowth and emotional stress are signals of digestive disruption and inflammation. Natural essential fatty acids work to reduce intestinal inflammation, decrease harmful acids, help the liver process proteins that grow muscle, balance hormones and facilitate the elimination of toxins. Natural essential fatty acids help clear our digestive system of heavy metals, harmful bacteria, pesticides that we are increasingly encountering in our environment. Essential fatty acids along with natural fiber help us clean out the intestinal debris that harm our health and often lead to weight gain. Essential fatty acids also help our brain's neurotransmitters to function properly in order to deal with stress, emotions, and cravings that can lead to overeating and weight gain.

Natural amino acids are the building blocks that make up proteins. Next to water, protein makes up the greatest part of our body weight. Amino acids help increase metabolism, build muscle, ease moderate depression, and help burn fat. Natural antioxidants help carry more oxygen to cells and muscles to help increase energy, burn fat, build muscle and process the foods we eat.

Hormone balance is essential for natural weight loss. Our metabolism slows as we get older because of the decrease or imbalance of hormones. This contributes to weight gain. Hormone balance also helps us deal with stress that leads to weight gain. Proper hormone balance helps to decrease cravings and binge eating. There are many natural hormone balancing products available, e.g. natural progesterone, promensil, soy isoflavones, essential fatty acids and hormone balancing formulas.

Our metabolism's primary task is to nourish our brains. We need healthy neurotransmitters to help us curb craving, ease depression, and deal with stress that lead to weight gain. Balancing our natural brain chemistry has a calming effect and allows us to feel a sens of well being and safety. There are many natural health care products to help balance brain chemistry, e.g. essential fatty acids, natural depression relief products, natural products to increase serotonin, and more. When our brain feels well and safe, it is prone to change our metabolism from calorie saving to calorie burning.

Our bodies were designed to move and be active. Movement requires muscle activity. Muscle activity uses the glycogen supply found in our muscles. When this glycogen supply stored in our muscles is used, our body is forced to use stored fat as an energy source. Using this stored fat through movement and exercise, results in natural weight loss. There is no reason for us to become athletes to accomplish natural weight loss. Low impact exercise like swimming, walking, etc, can be done slowly and without strain. In order to lose real weight rather than "water weight", it is important to drink extra amounts of water when exercising. Drinking more water will also help our digestive system and metabolism to use and eliminate extra weight.

Remember, the first objective, accomplished through natural weight loss, is to improve our physical and emotional health. This involves having a healthy digestive system, a healthy emotional system and a healthy nutritional system. We can build these healthy systems with natural vitamins, amino acids, antioxidants, natural digestive aid, pain relief aid, natural sleep aids, natural emotional and mood aids, essential fatty acids and many more helpful natural health care products. We need to concentrate on improving our general health, feeling good, and living well through natural weight loss, rather than constantly comparing ourselves to someone else's idea about appearance from some magazine. Physical and emotional health is primary. Appearance may be important to us, but it is secondary. Through natural weight loss, we can live well and live long.

Safety Tips on Changing a Flat Tire

Safe tips to Change a Car Tire

How to change a tire
Tools required:

  • Spare wheel with inflated tire

  • Tire jack

  • Wheel brace

  • Wheel chocks (or brick/large stone)

  • Warning triangle

If you experience a puncture whilst driving, slow down to no more than 5mph, and drive yourself to a safe place away from other traffic - ideally a lay-by or car parking space, and preferably near a light if it is dark. You may need to park the car on the other side of the road to get the side of the punctured tyre out of the way of the traffic, but DO NOT attempt to change a tire yourself on the hard shoulder of any busy road - call emergency services for this, the risk is too great.

Ensure the car is parked on level ground, and remove all passengers from the car to a safe place away from any traffic.

Step 1:
Double check you've applied the handbrake. If you have a manually geared car put it into gear, if you have an automatic put it into "Park".

Step 2:
Turn off your engine and put your hazard warning lights on. If you have one, put down a warning triangle down about 60 feet away. Opening your bonnet can also help indicate to other drivers that you are making repairs on the car.

Step 3:
Check that your spare tire is correctly inflated, and make sure you have your wheel jack and wheel brace, the tool you'll need for getting the wheel off, - all should usually be in the boot.

Step 4:
On the diagonally opposite wheel to the flat one, place a wheel chock (available from all car part stores) or a brick/large stone either behind or in front of the wheel to prevent the car from rolling down hill. If you are in doubt about which direction has the more incline, put chocks on either side of the wheel. Do this even if you are sure you're on a level surface.

Step 5:
If you have one, remove the hubcap or plastic cover concealing the wheelnuts. (You may need to use your wheel brace or a large screwdriver to prize this off.

Step 6:
With the car still on the ground, use the wheel brace to loosen the nuts holding the wheel in place by turning it in an anti-clockwise direction, for half a turn.

This can be the worst bit, as the nuts can be extremely tight. You will probably need to use all your body weight to loosen them - but BE CAREFUL OF YOUR BACK! Bending your knees and pulling is better for your back, and you may need to extend the arm of your wheel brace by attaching an extra tube to it for added leverage. If you still do not have the strength, place your foot on the left handle of the wheel brace (without any extensions on it) and use your body weight to drop the handle to the floor carefully while supporting yourself using the roof of your car.

Step 7:
Continue to loosen all the nuts by half a turn - first loosen one then loosen the one opposite, working across the tire until all the nuts are loosened slightly.

Step 8:
Check your owners' manual for the correct place to put the jack nearest to the wheel you are changing. Only use the recommended place - anywhere else can be dangerous and cause collapse.
Start to jack up the car, as soon as there is enough room, but before the wheel is off the ground, place the spare tire under the body of the car to add extra support just in case the jack slips.
Continue to jack the car up a bit higher than is necessary to remove the flat wheel as you will need enough room to fit the fully inflated spare.

Step 9:
Finish removing all the nuts and place them somewhere safe. The wheel with the flat tire should be hanging from the threaded studs now.

Step 10:
Remove the flat wheel from its threaded studs and put it in the place of the spare under the body of the car.

Step 11:
Lift the spare onto the wheel studs. (To check you're fitting it the right way round, check that the air valve is facing out.

Step 12:
Replace the nuts, tightening them in the same pattern as you loosened them.

Step 13:
Remove the old tire from under the body of the car, and slowly lower the jack and remove it.

Step 14:
Tighten the nuts again - as much as you can (standing on the arm of the wheel brace might again be helpful - but this time in a clockwise direction)

step 15:
Replace the hubcap or wheel cover.

Health Risks Associated with Toenail Fungus

While having a toenail fungus infection won't end your life, it can cause problems that will effect your daily life. When you discover a toenail fungus infection early, consider the following

Treatment of toenail fungus is Vital to Prevent Spreading

Toenail Fungus Treatments Become Less Effective - The worst thing you can do with this type of infection is to not treat it immediately. Toenail fungal infections don't go away without any treatment, and they only get worse as time passes. This is because the toenail fungus that causes this condition lives off of the cells of the foot and toenail, so it is always able to feed, along with a perfect breeding ground inside the shoes and socks.

The method of treatment depends on the duration of your toenail infection. Toenail fungus caught early can be treated with oral and topical cures. If you wait too long, the fungus may have grown too deep to be cured topically, leaving an oral remedy as your only option. When suffering from a late stage infection, it is best to see a doctor for prescription cures.

Untreated Toenail Fungus Can Spread - With a bad toenail fungus infection, it can spread to other toenails of the foot. Worse yet, it can become very easy for the toenail fungus to spread to others if you share anything that touches feet, mainly showers and shoes.

Conditions Caused by Toenail Fungus - Without treatment and after enough time, a toenail fungal infection will lead the infected toenail to deform and become painful. As toenail fungus spreads, the toenail thickens and it causes painful pressure within the toe. In a few instances, this deformation can lead to ulcers, sores or an ingrown toenail. This allows for other types of infections to occur, such as skin infection or Athlete's foot.

After a certain period, it can become difficult to run and walk. Moving requires the toes to be functional, and every step can be painful. The problem is even worse if the toenail fungus has caused sores or ulcers.

More Complications with the Elderly and Diabetics - Older people are more exposed to medical complications, like skin inflammation, when they have toenail infections. People with diseases that affect blood flow and diabetics can see an increase in limitations with their limbs.

Self-Esteem Worsens - Toenail fungus can do a number on your self-esteem. Even though the toenail fungal is not uncommon (44% of people with toenail fungus admit that it has a bad effect on self-esteem), it feels like you are the sole person in the world that suffers. Sandals, swimming, and everything that involves showing your feet becomes a chore.

CAUTION: Some find the shaving option unacceptable due to the irritation it causes when stubble reappears shortly afterwards. There can also be an acute problem with ingrown hairs in some cases. Once the shaving option is taken for chest hair removal it will need to be done regularly.

Nipples -

Tweezing. Stretch the skin slightly, grip the hair close to the root, and pull gently, firmly and evenly. Yanking the hair may cause it to break off thus increasing the risk of ingrown hair.

Shoulders, Back, Arms, Hands, Tummy -

Waxing, sugaring, depilatories. Waxing or Sugaring is the best method for all these areas. Taking a shower directly after waxing the back helps eliminate the possibility of acne breakouts and skin redness.

Underarms -

Shaving is safe in this area. Hair under the arm grows in all directions so a side to side stroke as well as up and down strokes may be necessary to catch all the hairs. Do not apply deodorants or antiperspirants right after shaving as this can cause acute irritation and soreness. Waxing or sugaring are also safe.

Do not use depilatories to avoid the risk of chemical burns on the sensitive skin in this area.

After the skin in this area has become accustomed to shaving, applying a thin layer of Vaseline petroleum jelly instead of a shaving foam or gel will give a really close shave.

Pubic Area and Bikini Line -If the hair is long it can be cut down with scissors. Then use a waxing or sugaring solution. Careful shaving is also possible.

Genitals - Male -

Hair growing on the shaft of the penis and on the testicles can be removed by shaving using a new wet razor. Great care is needed to avoid cuts.

Genitals - Female -

Waxing or sugaring is generally best. Shaving will only cause stubble to appear after a few days and it may cause skin irritation and painful bumps.

Anus and Perineum -

The Perineum is the area of skin rich in nerve endings located below the anus. In men it extends to the base of the testicles, in women to the vaginal opening. The anus is a mucous membrane. Depilatories should not be used as they can result in serious damage. Shaving produces stubble which may cause irritation as the sides chafe and rub together. Waxing or sugaring are the best methods.

Legs, Feet, Toes -

Shaving the legs is popular but the hair grows back after a short time. Waxing or sugaring are preferred although you have to wait until there is about a quarter of an inch of growth.

Does Pyruvate Help In Weight Loss?

There is currently a debate as to whether or not pyruvate can help in weight loss. There are two distinct camps, although the body of evidence favors those that believe that they can lose weight by taking a pyruvate supplement.

However, pyruvate is not an essential substance, which means that it is produced in the body from other substances. It is, in fact, the product of glycolysis, in which glucose is metabolized in the presence of oxygen to adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the molecule of energy, and two molecules of pyruvate.

The two pyruvate molecules then generate further energy by one of two pathways. In the first, the pyruvate forms acetyl-coenzyme A which is the first part of the Krebs Cycle, also known as the Citric Acid Cycle, which is responsible for energy production in the mitochondria. In the second, the pyruvate forms oxaloacetate, which is either used to form intermediates used in the Krebs Cycle or to generate more glucose through the process of gluconeogenesis.

The ATP formed in the mitochondria is a form of stored energy, just like a battery. When energy is released it is converted to adenosine diphosphate and the battery is discharged. The Krebs Cycle then adds another phosphate group to convert it to the triphosphate again, and so on. The energy is not carried round the body, but used in the cells in which it is generated. Every cell in the body contains a mitochondrion, and generates its own energy. Pyruvate is needed in every one of them.

The upshot of all this is that pyruvate is created naturally by the body, and therefore needs no supplementation. However, if there is a need to stimulate or increase the breakdown rate of blood sugars to prevent their later metabolism to fat, and hence help to prevent weight increase, then supplementation could be effective. In fact, it can be argued that the more pyruvate available then the more is the potential for energy to be generated, although it is glucose that is the main player in that scene.

In the absence of supplementation, of course, pyruvate is available naturally in cheese, red wine, dark beer and apples, and is also produced from pyruvic acid. The acid itself can cause some gastrointestinal problems, but when it sees a calcium or sodium salt, such as common salt, it forms the stable pyruvate. But the real question is, if pyruvate can be used to reduce weight, then by what mechanism? Without a projected mechanism then the practical results cannot be explained, which renders pyruvate just a player but not necessarily the major player.

The answer to this question is slightly open in that while many believe that pyruvate can be used to reduce weight and body fat, just as many do not, believing that there is insufficient evidence to reach that conclusion. However, if we examine the potential mechanism and determine the probability of that occurring, then we should be able to answer that question.

Athletes claim that pyruvate supplements help them to perform better through its effect on the Krebs Cycle that is responsible for the generation of energy in the body. It speeds up the transport of proteins and glucose into the mitochondria of the muscles, and so enables energy to be generated rapidly within the muscle cells when required.

This is a reasonable hypothesis, and one that is perfectly feasible given our knowledge of how the Krebs Cycle works. Pyruvate is an essential component of the Cycle, and in the presence of an excess of the other components, then additional pyruvate might well speed it up, and so generate energy faster and perhaps even increase the rate of thermogenesis and the burning of fat in the body.

However, there is another possible reason for pyruvate helping to give the appearance of an increase in energy levels, and one that is just as feasible. During exercise, whether in a gym or in actual competition, the body first uses the energy generated in the mitochondria through the natural operation of the Krebs Cycle. Once the blood glucose is used up, the glycogen stores in the muscles and liver are used.

Glycogen is the body's reserve store of energy, and is used when blood glucose has been depleted. Since pyruvate generates an increasing reliance on blood glucose for energy, the store of glycogen remains unused until it has to be, and hence the body appears to gain in energy. However, although this can explain at least partially the increased energy athletes experience when taking pyruvate supplements, it does not explain the loss in fact, that generally occurs after the glycogen reserves have been used up.

A six week double blind study carried out in Connecticut in 1999 on 26 people given 6 grams of pyruvate a day for 6 weeks resulted in a significant decrease, not only in body weight, but also in the mass of body fat, in the group given the pyruvate, but no effect in the control group.

A study in Pittsburg again showed pyruvate to result in loss of fat, with a group of overweight women losing three pounds more fat than a control that were given a placebo. However, the results here were questionable since the difference in weight loss was small in comparison to the original weight of the subject.

The same is true of a follow-up study in which the control group lost only two pounds less than the pyruvate group. A third study in the same group should only a 1.5 pound difference. These results are no conclusive, although the weight of evidence is in favor of pyruvate being effective in helping you to lose weight. However, it has not yet been universally accepted.

Is there a downside to using pyruvate that could argue against its use unless its effects have been conclusively proved? Probably the only one is that pyruvate can cause gastrointestinal problems if taken in large doses, but these would have to be in the region of around 30 - 50 grams daily, which is above those normally recommended not to mention very expensive.

Although the jury is still out on pyruvate, it seems that it does help to reduce weight, and that apart from the gastric discomfort when excessive amounts are used, it has no side effects. It is also of use in enhancing energy levels, and in demand by athletes and body builders, and its effects are supported by theory and the way it works in the mitochondria to generate energy.
